Tomar

Take a stroll through the narrow streets of Tomar’s Historic center. You can visit some of its breathtaking sites, as the churches of ‘São João Baptista’, ‘Santa Maria do Olival’, and the ancient 15th-century Jewish synagogue.
When in Tomar you can also visit the most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the Convent of Christ.

Coimbra

It’s the city of students and offers centuries of culture and history.
Firstly you can visit Coimbra’s university, the oldest university in Europe! Here, the highlight is its World-famous library! It’s a Baroque masterpiece built under the order of King John V, in the 18th Century.
Then, enjoy some time walking in the downtown city center and visit many other important monuments in the city. One of the most important is the Old Cathedral, a Romanesque building. Built when Afonso Henriques declared himself King of Portugal and chose Coimbra as the kingdom’s capital.

Convent of Christ

After the extinction of the Knights Templars in 1312, King Dinis creates a new religious militia the Military Order of Our Lord Jesus Christ, claiming the need to defend Portugal from Islam. Regarded as one of the greatest monastic complexes in Europe, UNESCO classifies it as a world heritage site since 1983. Inside you can see the Charola; the Knights’ round temple, the unique ‘Western window’ designed in Portuguese late gothic style, and the main cloister, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture.

Coimbra’s University Joanina Library

The Biblioteca Joanina is an 18th-century library located in the Paço das Escolas of the University of Coimbra, in the courtyard of the Faculty of Law. It presents a collection of 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries that represent the best that was being produced in the cultured Europe of its time.

Fátima

Portugal’s religious capital attracts millions of pilgrims every year, due to its mystical power and atmosphere. It can hold about 300 thousand faithful at the same time and is twice the size of St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican city.

Church of Holy (Eucharist) Miracle of Santarém

The Church of the Holy Miracle (Igreja do Santíssimo Milagre) is home to a 13th-century Eucharistic miracle. The shrine is among the most famous of its kind.

Fado show

Enjoy a typical Fado de Coimbra performance. It’s a unique musical expression, traditionally performed by male university students. It happens every evening at 6 pm, in city center.
