Portugal is well-known for its rich desserts and pastries. In the Algarve region, the most famous and unique ones are called ‘Almond fruits’ and are made with marzipan filled with sweet egg cream. These sweets come in all sorts of shapes (usually fruits, vegetables or animals) and in bright colors. The origin of this homemade recipe is linked to the tradition and customs of the region. Today, you can still taste these amazing homemade sweets in pastry shops all over the Algarve.

We suggest a short stop at ‘Doce fino’ pastry shop, in Faro. A place where you can still taste all the traditional sweets of the Algarve region!
