Discovering Lisbon Tour

Traditional trade area

Located in ‘Praça do Comércio’ it is one of the largest squares in Europe and for many centuries the main entrance to the city of Lisbon. To reach the downtown you’ll have to pass under the Triumphal Arch and walk up Augusta street. Currently the square is used for cultural events, New year’s eve and music concerts.


The heart of the city was rebuilt after the earthquake of 1755 with beautiful cobblestone streets, named after the craftsmen. Many architectural styles are represented, including the original neogothic style of Mesnier du Ponsard, present in his renowned work of the Santa Justa Elevator.


The most traditional and old neighborhood of Lisbon composed of a maze of narrow streets,winding alleyways and steep flights of steps. It’s the birth place of ‘Fado’ (Traditional song of Lisbon, classified as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO).

Bairro Alto

Famous for its narrow streets, ‘Fado’ houses, bars and nightlife.


Traditionally known as the home of many of Lisbon’s intellectuals, artists and radicals and recently restored after a devastating fire. Perfect for a coffee or a late-afternoon purchase.

Belém district

Launching point for the Portuguese discoveries, with significant historic monuments in a beautiful open riverside setting. Here you can see the Belém Tower, the Discoveries Monument, visit the church of the Jerónimos Monastery and taste the world-famous custard tarts of Belém.

Optional experiences and visits

St. George’s Castle

Located on the highest hill of Lisbon, and with a heady view over the city, it’s one of the most emblematic monuments of Lisbon and home of the royalty for centuries. This military fort was built by the Moors in the 11th century and conquered by the first king of Portugal Dom Afonso Henriques on October 25th of 1147.

Lisbon’s ‘Oceanarium’

The largest in Europe, with species from every corner of the world. The Oceanarium gathers 8 thousand animals of about 500 different species.

Nations Park

Site of ‘Expo-98′ and today a recreation area alongside the Tagus River, where you can have a nice walk, ride a bicycle, do some shopping, go to Lisbon’s Casino or watch a concert.

‘São Vicente de Fora’ Monastery

The largest church in Lisbon with its beautiful cloisters. It is considered one of the most impressive buildings in Lisbon and was the largest work of the Philippine period: the 60 years.

Calouste Gulbenkian Museum

One of the most famous museums in Portugal which belongs to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The Museum was inaugurated in 1969 and features 6500 pieces by artists such as Rembrandt, Renoir, Rubens, Monet and Degas.

National Museum of Ancient Art

It has more than 40,000 important Portuguese and international works, which are expressed through painting, sculpture, jewelery, furniture, ceramics, and more.

Tile Museum

Located in a former convent and founded in 1980, the museum gathers some of the most significant examples of national tiles from the 15th century to the present day.

Ajuda National Palace

One of the official residences of the Portuguese Royal Family. Its museum has an incredible collection of decorative arts, from the fifteenth to the twentieth century. The exhibited items are of varied arts as: jewelery, painting, sculpture, furniture, textiles, goldsmithing, among others.

Coach Museum

The new Coach Museum brings together a unique collection of gala cars and strollers from the 16th to 19th centuries, mostly from the Royal Portuguese House.

Outlets Shopping

In the largest shopping center in Europe (Colombo) or in the traditional neighborhood trade, which can be found in various parts of the city.
