However, Bel\u00e9m stands out for being the place where the great navigator Vasco da Gama left to discover the sea route to India.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that the discovery of the sea route to India was one of the most remarkable routes of the Age of Discovery? For this reason, several monuments have been built to perpetuate this vital moment in Portugal&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Jer\u00f3nimos Monastery: Portugal&#8217;s Greatest Architectural Masterpiece<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The Jer\u00f3nimos Monastery does not go unnoticed. The name comes from the name of the king who ordered the construction of the Monastery. Later of the Tower of Bel\u00e9m, King Manuel I. This style, considered unique in the world, is characterized by the use of unique decorative motifs symbolizing the royal power and related to the Age of the Discoveries, on the buildings.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget to visit the church, where you will find the tombs of two remarkable figures of the time, the navigator Vasco da Gama and the poet Lu\u00eds de Cam\u00f5es, known for his famous literary work: The Lus\u00edadas.<\/p>\n<p>What most people don&#8217;t know is that this majestic monastery was built on the same site as a small chapel where Vasco da Gama and his crew prayed for spiritual protection before they sailed out on the discovery of India by sea. Curious, isn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<h2><b>Bel\u00e9m Tower: Lisbon&#8217;s Most Iconic Landmark<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The Tower of Bel\u00e9m is undoubtedly the most well-known attraction in Lisbon.
